No, Mr. President, 99 Balloons

As you may know, today marks the 37th anniversary of Roe vs. Wade.

More than a few protesters were heard to characterize the abortion issue as “the most critical human rights issue” in existence today.

A year ago Pastor John Piper issued the following challenge to our current president:

I am understanding of the need to dialogue with pro-choice advocates. Pro-life does indeed mean precisely that: to support the lives of both the unborn children as well as the children born to unwilling mothers. To that end I support the efforts made on both sides to reduce the social strains that often lead women toward abortion.

And yet I cannot relent from standing against a system whose faulty reasoning has so wrongly characterized motherhood as mere incubation and that has reduced a human being to a commodity to be sacrificed at the altar of convenience.

This is not about limiting the rights of women. Since roughly half of all aborted children are female, then some estimates would suggest that nearly 1500 women are robbed of the right to life per day, totaling over twenty million women in the last 37 years.

I will leave that there, and close with a moving video that is not explicitly about the abortion issue, but illustrates so vividly the value of all human life.
